Abstract:
In this talk, we will describe how to build documents (web pages, PDF documents, interactive data visualizations, figures, or slides) from plain text descriptions. We discuss standard text formats such as LaTeX, Markdown, Restructured Text; describe a few collaborative editing frameworks; discuss the pandoc conversion tool; and demonstrate how these tools can be used to assemble a few types of documents – specifically, slide decks and web pages and visualizations – from simple descriptions.
